Hailing from East Sumba, Arie often admires the beautiful views (despite the hot temperatures) of tropical Sumba, the island he’s proud to call home. Alongside his mother and siblings, Arie has grown up surrounded by this natural beauty. By studying at Sumba Hospitality Foundation (SHF), Arie unearthed his passion in the Culinary Department, expressing immense joy and talent in cooking classes.

He enjoyed the structured campus life, starting the day at 5:30am, with his favourite part being the time spent in the Study Hall, mingling with his like-minded classmates-turned-friends. Now, as a proud graduate of SHF, Arie is determined to become a Michelin-starred chef! Currently, Arie is honing his culinary skills at the Knalpot restaurant in Lombok, further pursuing his passion in the Culinary Department.

A devoted daughter, sister, and now a proud graduate of the Sumba Hospitality Foundation, Inestasia’s heartwarming energy continues to be felt by all who know her. Now working at the renowned Aperitif Bali restaurant in the Food and Beverage Department, her passion for hospitality shines through as she meets and interacts with guests from various backgrounds.

Inestasia appreciates SHF for emphasising the importance of studying well and chasing one’s dreams. Her main goal remains to make her parents proud and become a role model for her younger sisters. During her time at SHF, she attended various classes, learned how to craft drinks, deliver exceptional customer service, and serve with a warm and genuine smile. She now brings these skills to her role at Aperitif Bali, where her dedication makes her a valuable team member.

Sepri picked up the skill of interacting with various different people and now applies it by happily engaging with his hotel guests from around the world! Along with playing football, he enjoys his time at SHF by visiting Sumba villages to learn about the local culture.

His passion to study English has led him to the opportunity of becoming a brilliant front-house receptionist! Sepri’s favourite part of being a receptionist is making sure his guests feel right at home in their lovely hotel. His dreams are anything but small - with the support of SHF, he is now able to take his determination and gain valuable experience towards his dream job at a 5-star hotel!

Asthy loves to play badminton on the soil of SHF during her leisure time. Along with her ambitions to visit London one day, she is known for her bubbly personality on campus - whether that is making friends with fellow classmates or channeling that positive energy through her clients in the Spa Department!

Her passion to learn the various techniques of massages and essential oils originated first from her philosophy that the spa heals the body and soul. Though sometimes encountering nervousness while practising her skills - she quickly reminds herself of her confidence and ability to become a talented masseuse while counting down the days till graduation!

Dela appreciates SHF for allowing her to receive a quality education! On her summer breaks, she would return to her village to have her family sample delicious mocktails, teach her loved ones better English, as well as housekeeping skills she has learnt in school. One of her most memorable experiences was interacting with guests directly as a waitress in restaurants. This first experience had inspired her to one day open up her own homestay business, and to employ her loved ones to share the joys of quality hospitality.

Cavin has had the ability to further his education and career in the culinary industry, with his goal being the executive chef of his own lovely restaurant. His inspiration was largely the teaching staff of SHF, as well as himself for having the courage to better his life. Cavin has recently graduated from SHF and continues to live his excitement with an internship in Bali, where he practices his new soft skills learnt of interacting with guests from all over the world.

Nico has always dreamt of returning to Sumba with his loving family by first accomplishing a better career. With the support of the SFH, he was able to begin the journey of making his dream a reality by graduating school with good marks, and securing an internship in hospitality. Often he speaks of his gratitude for learning the insides and out of hospitality - and how it also made his confidence grow in his personal life.

Tina has been able to ignite her fire of proactiveness and the passion to educate herself across all fields spanning hospitality, housekeeping, and culinary skills - all with the opportunity of being enrolled in SHF. Her favourite skill she looks forward to practising more is the various massage techniques on her future guests! Her promise to all is that she will be the best spa therapist in whichever spa is lucky enough to have her.
